Grateful Dead marketing seems to be in overdrive. It's a bit distasteful...

It is a little silly, but I admit i will be playing it when It comes out. As long as you don't have to pay to play it, which im not sure of yet, its hard to tell.

I made a bear for myself and voted for my favorite shows.

You have to pay something...you have to buy "stealies", but it doesn't say what those are used for, and how many it takes to play the game.

I mean, what the hell happens at a show? Do they stream it and dancing bears are playing the instruments?

I have it also. The only times I've ever really "played" was at Deadhook. There were several late night games there a couple of years ago. But "virtual trivia" probably isn't quite as much fun as a group of friends sitting around a table sharing good times and adult beverages.

Ah, but see, this one is virtual so you can play with all of us -- and the kids! Looks like a version of Webkinz. I can hear the marketing already. "A game for the whole Dead family!" Something to get the little ones after they grow out of their Stealie onesies.

And I see we can all vote now for the shows to include in the "epic tour." How about we all sign in and send those bears to Boreal Ridge? Mwahahaaaa ....

Soon they are going to get into the assisted living business (maybe named Uncle John's Home?). Cradle to grave products and services. Maybe you can sign a lifetime membership bundle for your future progeny or for other nascent members of the family tree.

Uncle John's Home? As in, "Who-oa, what I want to know, Where does the time go?" That's some thought.

Well, that would be somewhere to play the Grateful Dead Trivia game. Instead of bridge. (I was re-reading Catcher in the Rye a little while ago. The boys at the prep school play bridge. Really. I guess Holden Caulfield would be at the retirement home now, waiting grouchily for the Woodstock generation to arrive ...)

LOL! Really - laugh out loud.

Me and a long time friend were recently speculating on what "retirement homes" will be like when we get there. We concluded that there would be a number of people telling us to "turn it down".

"Turn it down"??
Most of the old folk I know can't hear shit.
You might be in luck. If it so happens, I might be in the
room next to you yelling "IS THAT 6-23-74?!" ... "TURN
THAT SHIT UP!!"
And then roll over and crap and piss in my diaper. Good times. Can't wait...

Maybe they could extend service into the grave? Take your virtual bear's playlist and have that loop down there till Armageddon. The importance of choosing one's music.

btw- An unreliable source just told me that the above package (named Through Eternity) is included in bundle #4.
